Navigating Point of Sale

Understanding the layout of your INDY POS is essential for efficient transactions. The POS screen is divided into key sections to help staff:

  • Process orders quickly

  • Access users and previous transactions

  • Manage tabs, gift cards, and vouchers

This guide provides a quick navigation overview of the POS interface.

Or, via the Windows desktop application installed on a terminal or tablet


Key Areas of the POS Screen

1. Bottom-Left Menu (Configuration & System)

  • Provides access to register and hardware settings.

  • Functions include:

    • Register Configuration (set POS number)

    • Chip Reader setup

    • Dark Mode & Zooming

    • Reload App & Data

  • This menu is primarily for setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting.


2. Top-Right Menu (Cash & Order Management)

  • Provides financial and order shortcuts:

    • Cash Drawer and Cash Adjustments

    • Gift Card Balance Check

    • Cash Controls and End-of-Day Deposits

  • Also includes quick Save Order and Clear Cart options.


3. Cart Area (Right-Hand Panel)

  • The Cart is the core of the transaction process.

  • Functions include:

    • Find User / Create New User

    • Find Previous Orders

    • Re-select Previous Users or Orders

    • View Open Tabs

  • During an active order, the Cart displays all selected items (tickets, concessions, vouchers) before payment.


4. Order & Tab Management (Bottom Center)

  • After selecting items, staff can:

    • Place the order

    • Create a tab

    • Start a phone booking

    • Collect tickets or Edit orders (site-dependent)

  • Includes a voucher/gift card input box for manual entry or scanning.


5. Session & Date Selection (Top-Left Corner)

  • Controls which session’s tickets and concessions are being sold.

  • Adjusting the date will update the session list for future or current showtimes.


6. Bottom Tab Bar (Sales Categories)

  • Quick access to the main POS categories, typically including:

    • Tickets (various seat or view options)

    • Candy Bar / Concessions

    • Alcohol (if permitted at your site)

    • Gift Vouchers / Gift Passes

    • Custom tabs based on your cinema’s setup


Example Workflow

  1. Select session (top-left)

  2. Choose ticket and concession items (bottom tabs)

  3. Review the Cart (right-hand side)

  4. Create tab or proceed to payment (bottom center)


Tips for Staff

  • Use Find User to attach loyalty or membership accounts for perks and reporting.

  • Keep the Cart visible during transactions to verify items and pricing.

  • Familiarize yourself with both hamburger menus for configuration and cash functions.
