Item Classes

Item Classes allow you to group items together for easier reporting, tax management, and discount control. You can manage these under:

Indy Admin → Settings → Concessions → Item Classes


🔧 What is an Item Class?

An Item Class is a grouping of related items (e.g. Drinks, Confectionery, Alcohol) used to:

  • 📊 Generate more insightful reports (e.g. group all drinks together).

  • 🎟️ Control discount and voucher eligibility (e.g. apply a voucher to all Popcorn, but not Drinks).

  • 💵 Assign tax settings at the class level.

  • 📈 Include or exclude the item class from Per Capita Reporting.


➕ Creating a New Item Class

To create a new item class:

  1. Go to Indy Admin > Settings > Concessions > Item Classes

  2. Select Add Item Class

  3. Fill in:

    • Name (e.g. "Hot Drinks")

    • Description (optional)

    • Toggle:

      • Include in Per Cap – include this class in per-head revenue reporting

      • Apply Tax – apply a tax rule to all items assigned to this class

Once set up, assign items to the appropriate item class in the Item Settings area.
