The Find User function is built into all POS units and allows staff to quickly locate member or customer accounts at the counter. This is particularly helpful when members do not have their card or card number with them.

🧭 Where to Find It

  • Access the Find User search bar from the POS screen.

🔎 How to Use Find User

  1. Type your search information into the Find User search bar.

  2. You can search by:

    • First name

    • Last name

    • Telephone number

    • Email address

    • Postal address (if collected)

    • Membership card number

  3. Click the magnifying glass icon to search.

Tip: The more information you input, the faster and more accurate the search.

  • Searching “Nancy” may return multiple results.

  • Searching “Nancy Smith” or an email/phone number will narrow the results significantly.

🧠 Best Practice

  • Encourage staff to ask for email or phone numbers, as these are unique identifiers.

  • Use Find User whenever members forget their membership cards.

Video Title: FindUser Function in POS

Category: POS Operations

Location: POS terminal search bar

Purpose:

  • Allows staff to look up customers and members at POS without a physical card.

Key Details:

  • Search Fields: First name, last name, phone number, email address, postal address, or membership card number.

  • Search Accuracy: The more specific the query, the narrower the results.

  • Results will return all matching records, so unique identifiers (phone/email) are recommended.

Support Considerations:

  • Duplicates: Searching by a common first name may return many matches; advise staff to use unique identifiers.

  • Data Accuracy: If a customer cannot be found, verify that their details are up-to-date in IndyAdmin > Users.

  • Cardless Members: Promote FindUser as a fallback for members who forget their cards to avoid friction at the counter.
