The Booking Fees section in Indy Admin lets you configure how your cinema charges booking fees across different sales channels and ticket types. These fees are an important source of revenue, and the system allows you to tailor them to your venue's specific needs.
🧭 Where to Find It
Navigate to:
Settings → Site → Booking Fees
🔧 Booking Fees Overview
Booking fees are split into two sections:
Booking Fee Settings
Booking Fee Types
1️⃣ Booking Fee Settings
Booking Fee Message:
Add a message that will display at the online checkout to explain your booking fee policy.
Show Booking Fees as Line Item:
Toggle whether booking fees are displayed as a separate line item in the shopping cart (often required in Australia/New Zealand).
2️⃣ Booking Fee Types
You can set up one booking fee type or multiple depending on your cinema’s policies.
➕ Creating a Booking Fee Type
Click Create Booking Fee Type, then set:
Name (e.g. "Standard Booking Fee")
Apply per order or per ticket
Channel(s) the fee applies to:
External (e.g. Fandango, Atom)
Self-service kiosk
Telephone
POS/register (in person)
Website (online checkout)
💡 Most cinemas apply fees only to External and Website channels.
VAT: Decide whether to add VAT/GST/TAX to booking fees
Gross amount: Set the amount of the booking fee
Refundable: Choose whether the booking fee is refundable
🎯 Booking Fee Restrictions
For each fee type, you can set conditions that define when and to whom the fee applies:
Price-Based Conditions
Set a minimum and/or maximum ticket price threshold
Choose to include or exclude tickets based on these price points
(Example: Exclude tickets priced over £2 from incurring booking fees)
Order Item Types
Exclude specific ticket types (e.g. comps, special events) from booking fees
Membership Types
Exclude specific memberships from booking fees (often used as a member benefit)
Showing Badges
Apply booking fees only to showings with certain badges (e.g. “Premium Title”)
(Example: Add higher fees for premium events while default fees apply elsewhere)
🧠 Best Practice
Start with one fee type for simplicity, then expand as needed.
Membership exclusion is a strong perk—make sure this is applied correctly.
Always test your booking fees across all channels before going live.
