Showing Badges are a flexible tagging system within IndyAdmin that can be used across movies, performances, price cards, and website filters. They help label and visually identify special types of screenings like Event Cinema, 3D, Sensory Friendly, Kidsโ€™ Club, or Captioned performances โ€” both for internal planning and public display.

They can also be used to influence pricing, signage, and even your TMS (Theatre Management System) setup.

๐Ÿงฉ Where Showing Badges Are Used

Showing badges can be applied to:

  • Movies โ€” to mark the entire film with a badge (e.g. โ€œEvent Cinemaโ€)

  • Price Cards โ€” to link pricing to all showings with that badge

  • Individual Performances โ€” to override defaults and mark a single performance (e.g. one-off Sensory Friendly screening)

โœ… Internal Note: Badges assigned at the performance level will override any inherited from the movie or price card.

๐ŸŒ Website Integration

Showing badges can be surfaced in several areas on customer-facing sites:

  • On listings pages โ€“ small badge or label beside the screening button

  • Filtered web pages โ€“ e.g. a webpage showing only Event Cinema or Captioned Screenings

  • Showtime buttons โ€“ badges can appear inside or below the button

โœ… Internal Note: Showing badges are a key part of accessibility filtering (e.g., wheelchair access, captioned). Encourage clients to use them to improve UX.

๐Ÿ›  Creating and Editing Showing Badges

Step 1: Go to Settings > Showing Badges

Step 2: Click Create Showing Badge

You'll be able to set the following fields:

Field

Description

Name

Internal name of the badge (e.g. Event Cinema)

Display Name

What appears publicly, can be different from internal name

Description

Short sentence (e.g. โ€œThis is a streamed live eventโ€)

Appearance

Choose between: name, icon, or name + icon

Icon

Select from the built-in icon library (e.g. theatre, hearing, film)

Color

Sets the badge color on buttons/listings

Display Location

Show on Signage

Toggle ON/OFF for physical or digital signage

TMS Tag

Used to trigger alternate templates in your Theatre Management System

TMS Template Name

Name of the alternate TMS template (e.g. different lighting, sound, or automation cues)

Priority Order

Drag to reorder badges so the most important appears first

๐Ÿ” Sorting Badge Display Order

Badges can appear in a priority sequence, especially when multiple apply to a single screening (e.g. 3D, 18+, wheelchair accessible).

  • Use drag and drop to manually reorder

  • For example: show 3D first, then 18+, then Wheelchair Access

โœ… Internal Note: This priority sorting affects web button labels, signage display, and ordering logic across platforms.

โš™๏ธ How Badges Interact with Other Elements

๐ŸŸฆ 1. Movies

  • Go to Movies > Select a Movie > Showing Badges

  • Apply badge to all performances of this movie

๐ŸŸง 2. Price Cards

  • Go to Pricing > Price Cards

  • Add showing badges to apply that pricing model only to performances with matching badges

(e.g. use a different price card for Event Cinema)

๐ŸŸฉ 3. Performances

  • Go to Programming > Booking Weeks > Performance

  • Click into an individual screening and assign or override showing badges

โœ… Internal Note: Assigning a badge at the performance level allows for maximum flexibility โ€” e.g. one Sensory Friendly showing of a regular kids' movie.

๐ŸŽ› TMS Integration (Theatre Management Systems)

Some cinemas use TMS integrations where showing badges can trigger:

  • Different automation cues (lights, curtains, playback)

  • Alternate TMS templates

To configure:

  1. In the showing badge, enter the exact tag as it appears in your TMS (case-sensitive)

  2. Optionally enter the TMS template name

  3. This allows the TMS to recognise the screening as unique and apply different operational behaviour

โœ… Internal Note: Useful for marking 3D, Open Caption, or Alternative Content showings that need unique automation settings.

๐ŸŒ Website Filters and Listing Pages

You can use showing badges to build filtered landing pages, such as:

  • /event-cinema

  • /captioned

  • /kids-club

These pages can pull all performances or films with a matching showing badge and only display those to customers.

โœ… Internal Note: These filtered pages are often requested by marketing and accessibility teams. Make sure badge labels are consistent and correctly assigned at either movie or performance level.
