Navigations control the menu links, buttons, and section headers that appear on your cinema’s public-facing website and mobile site.
They determine where visitors can click to find important pages, and how those links are organised in the header, footer, hamburger menu, and (optionally) a mobile menu bar.
This guide covers:
Where navigations appear on your website
How to add and configure navigations
How ordering and grouping works
Special navigation features like Menu Headers and Mobile Menu Tabs
Accessing Navigations
Log in to Indy Admin.
Go to Settings → Website & Marketing → Navigations.
You will see a list of all existing navigations, their display order, and icons indicating where they appear.
Navigation Display Locations
A navigation can be displayed in multiple sections of your site:
Location | Description | Example Use Cases |
Header | Appears at the top of the page as part of your main site navigation. | “Showtimes”, “What's On”, “Memberships” |
Menu (Hamburger) | Appears inside the collapsible side menu (often on mobile view). | “About Us”, “FAQs”, “Contact Us” |
Footer | Appears at the bottom of every page. | “Terms & Conditions”, “Privacy Policy”, “Social Media Links” |
Mobile Menu Bar | Adds a fixed bar at the bottom of the mobile site with quick-access buttons. | “Home”, “Book Now” |
Ordering Navigations
The Order column controls the position of links.
Items at the top of the list display first in the selected location.
Reorder items by dragging or adjusting the numbers.
Example:
If “Showtimes” is at position 1 in the Header list, it will be the left-most or first link users see.
Reordering “FAQs” below “Contact Us” will move its position accordingly in all display locations where it appears.
Adding a Navigation
Click Create Navigation.
Name – Enter the link title (e.g., Special Offers).
Page Type – Choose one of:
Existing Admin Page – Link to a page you’ve built in IndyAdmin.
External URL – Link to a completely different site (e.g., your Facebook page).
Open in New Window – Toggle on if the link should open in a separate browser tab.
Menu Placement – Select one or more:
Header
Menu
Footer
Mobile Menu
Click Save.
Tip: If your organisation has multiple sites and a central library of links, you can use Add from Library to quickly import standard navigations.
Using Menu Headers
Menu Headers are category labels that help group items in the hamburger menu.
For example:
A “Socials” header can group Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube links.
An “Information” header could contain FAQs, Contact Us, and Accessibility.
To create a Menu Header:
In Menu Header, type the header name.
Press Enter to confirm (you’ll see a small “X” next to it).
Save your navigation.
This header will now appear as a separate category label inside the hamburger menu.
Menu Headers only affect the hamburger menu. They do not change the header or footer layout.
Mobile Menu Tabs
A Mobile Menu Tab is a fixed button bar at the bottom of the mobile site.
Example Uses:
“Home” button
“Book Tickets”
“Contact Us”
To create one:
Create a new navigation and assign it to Mobile Menu.
Select the destination page or URL.
Save the navigation.
On mobile view, you will see a persistent bar with your button.
Editing or Removing Navigations
To edit, click the navigation name, make changes, and save.
To delete, use the delete button next to the navigation (note: this removes it from all locations).
Best Practices
Keep titles short and descriptive.
Use Menu Headers for logical grouping in the hamburger menu.
Limit Mobile Menu Tabs to key actions for faster mobile access.
Avoid having the same navigation appear too many times — it can clutter the user experience.
