The Studios section in Indy Admin allows cinemas to manage the distributors (or studios) associated with each film. These studios are the recipients of Box Office Reports (BORs) and Swift reports, and their configurations control when, how, and to whom those reports are sent.
You’ll find this feature under Settings > Studio Reporting.
📂 What is a Studio in Indy?
A Studio in this context refers to any film distributor or content owner that requires scheduled reporting of box office performance. These studio profiles act as templates that control:
Who receives BORs
When the reporting week begins
Whether previews count toward the reporting period
Optional fees like retention
Email recipient lists
🧩 How Studios Are Added
There are three ways to add studios to your Studio Library:
1. Automatic Addition
When a film is added to your Movie Library, if the studio attached to the movie is not already in your Studio Library, it will be automatically created and added here.
2. Manual Add from Library
In the Studios section:
Click Add from Library
A list of unlinked or greyed-out studios will appear
Select the studios you want to include
Click Add from Library to import them
3. Create a New Studio Manually
Click Create Studio
Fill in the following fields:
Field Description Studio Name Full name, e.g. Warner Bros. Short Name Optional shorter reference Week Start Day Day on which the BOR week begins (e.g., Friday) Week Extend Premiere Toggle ON if previews (e.g., Weds/Thurs) should count toward the weekend’s revenue Retention Fee Optional field if a fixed amount is withheld per screening or week Include in Box Office Reports Toggle ON to include this studio in regular BOR emails Include in Swift Reports Toggle ON to include in Swift weekly reporting Email Recipients Add one or multiple addresses, separated by a comma and a space (e.g.,
[email protected], [email protected]
)
✅ If a comma is used without a space, it may result in errors with delivery. Always double-check formatting in this text field.
📧 Managing Existing Studios
Click into any existing studio (e.g., A24 or Janus) to view and edit its settings. You will see:
The current recipient email(s)
Reporting preferences
Report frequency settings:
Send Daily Reports or
Send Summaries (digest format)
You can update all of these values as needed.
🔗 Linking and Unlinking Studios from the Movie Library
Each studio in your reporting library is linked to its associated record in the Movie Library. This link ensures that any changes (e.g. to name, contact details) can be reflected in both places.
You can unlink a studio if you want to override the details for reporting without affecting the Movie Library
Once unlinked, the studio becomes editable independently
If needed, you can link it back to the Movie Library later by:
Clicking Link
Searching for a matching studio
Confirming the match to re-sync data
✅ Unlinking is most commonly used when different contact details are required for reporting, such as using a studio’s finance contact instead of programming contact.
🔄 Editing and Updating Studios
You can edit the following after creation:
Studio name or short name
Reporting week start day
Retention fees
Email addresses (add, remove, or reorder)
Toggle reporting preferences on/off
Switch between daily reports and summary reports
✅ Always ensure emails are valid and tested, especially for new Swift users or BFI/Janus where deliveries are closely audited.
🗑 Deleting or Disabling a Studio
Studios cannot be fully deleted if they are still associated with films in your Movie Library
You can disable a studio if you no longer need to send reports to it
This will stop all automated BOR/Swift emails from being sent to its recipients
✅ Example Use Cases
A24 → One email address receives daily BORs
Janus Films → Two recipients receive summary reports each Monday
Independent content partner → Studio added manually with specific retention fee and one-off reporting setup
