Campaigns are a single message or series of messages which send in response to user or data behavior. This article covers what email campaigns are available for your workspace. Please create a support ticket if you would like access to any of these templates.

What are Campaigns? How do they differ from Broadcasts?

Broadcasts are one-off emails that go out to everyone at around the same time. Campaigns are automated email sequences about specific topics, such as welcoming a new subscriber or following up on an abandoned order. They can be used alongside a regular Showtimes newsletter to support ticket sales and customer experience.

Getting started with campaigns

INDY has designed templates for the following campaigns:

  • Welcome Series - Welcome Email

  • Rating Series - Rate Film / Cinema Experience Email

  • Abandoned Cart - Abandoned Cart Reminder

  • Membership Upsell - Membership Upgrade Email

  • Birthday Offer - Birthday Email

If you would like any of the above set up for in your workspace, please create a support ticket with the name of the campaigns you want access to. Keep reading to find out more about each campaign, as well as how to manage them once they are live in your workspace.

Welcome Series

A Welcome Email is the very first email communication you have with a subscriber or current customer. The benefits for having a welcome email include:

  • Better customer engagement
    Welcome emails have four times more opens and five times more clicks than other marketing emails!

  • Saves time
    It's an automated hello - plus an opportunity to share the key information you want users to know when they sign up

  • Decreases spam complaints and unsubscribes
    Subscribers are more likely to be receptive to communication from a brand they have been introduced to

  • Allows for sending relevant campaigns
    The content of a welcome email can be adapted based on a user's membership status (e.g. free, paid, nonmember)
    Users can also set their preferences for the type of content they wish to receive via our "manage your notifications" link

Abandoned Cart

An Abandoned Cart Reminder is sent to customers who almost made a purchase to encourage them to complete their transaction. The email displays a film they were recently looking at, with buttons to complete the order and watch the film trailer. As well as recovering lost sales, the benefits of having an abandoned cart email include:

  • Improve customer relationship and experience
    Displays content personalized to their shopping history

  • Saves time
    This email automatically sends a follow-up 45 minutes* after an order is abandoned

  • Flexible implementation
    Theaters can work with INDY to determine at which point in the customer journey should an order be considered "abandoned", as well as *change the amount of time elapsed before the email is sent

Rating Series

After a user watches a movie at the cinema, they will receive a Rate Film Email. If a film rating is provided, the user will be taken to a short online form asking for more information about customer service and auditorium cleanliness. Theaters can view user responses in the INDY Admin tool by going to Operations > Customers > Visit Reviews.

The benefits for having a Rate Film include:

  • Customer insights
    Learn what's working and what's not, direct from the customer

  • Saves time (and paper)
    Swap out paper surveys for this automated follow-up and reporting tool

  • Credibility and trust
    Share positive reviews about the theater, as well as experience scores, on social media

  • Improved management of poor experiences
    Theater staff with access to the INDY Admin tool can see all submitted reviews; each review has an associated user, movie and the team member they were served by

Membership Upsell

Want to convert regular movie-goers into members and/or upgrade to a higher tier of membership? INDY can set up an Membership Upgrade Email* which prompts users to upgrade their membership.

*Our default set up is to trigger this email when a user without (or an a free membership) places three or more orders in 30 days.

Birthday Offer

Want to send members a birthday offer? INDY can set up an email and voucher code which sends automatically!

Our most popular birthday offers include a free popcorn or cinema ticket. However, INDY vouchers can be configured to include more items types and exclude specific items. They can also be added to specific memberships, and cinemas can offer different birthday offers to each membership type. Be as specific or broad as you want!

Cinemas also have the option of setting an expiry date for birthday vouchers*.

*Currently the minimum validity period is one month. For cinemas who want to offer a shorter window, INDY recommends configuring a Birthday Discount. On the customer's birth date, the discount will automatically be applied. An email automation can be set up to remind them before or on the day this discount becomes available.

Tip: Pair this email with the Welcome Email and remind customers to update their account with their birth dates!
